Chiropody & Podiatry

What will happen at my appointment?

The practice of chiropody, also referred to as podiatry, encompasses a range of foot health services tailored to specific conditions. Services offered by Dunford Health may include nail cutting, treatment for ingrown nails, removal of corns and calluses, as well as other treatments like verrucae treatment.

What takes place in a podiatry assessment?

It is important that we obtain your medical history during the assessment in order to determine whether any medical conditions or medications may be having an impact on your lower limbs.

After that, we may include a thorough examination of your nerve response, circulation in your lower limbs (using a doppler ultrasound), skeletal alignment, and the strength and tone of your muscles in your legs and feet. This will aid in our comprehension of the various biomechanical and medical elements that contribute to foot and leg pain.

During your appointment, we aim to educate patients on why you may be experiencing your problem, and what you can do to prevent it from recurring. We also offer advice on how to manage chronic conditions like diabetes to avoid complications.

Verruca

Verruca is part of the HPV (human papillomoma virus) that unfortunately can take a long time to resolve with treatments. Treatments typically involve over-the-counter topical solutions containing salicylic acid or cryotherapy, which gradually break down the verruca tissue. Regular application of these medications aids in the removal of verrucas, small growths caused by the human papillomavirus. Unfortunately the effectiveness of these treatments are not high and require multiple visits. With greater success, verruca needling may be recommended. We are proud to be one of the very few that provide verruca needling. Book a podiatry appointment with us today to treat your verruca.
